Self-Care Sunday Week 2

Happy Sunday! I don't know about you but Sunday is the day I typically use to prepare myself for the next week. I try and meal prep, plan my workouts and any other things that may occur in the week ahead. In the midst of that, I try and also make time for self-care. Some days I am better at it that others. How are you doing with incorporating more self-care into your week? Did the best intentions go right out the window by Wednesday? I know some of the self-care habits I had planned on trying to implement did not go as well as I liked. There were days where that plan did not happen.

Guess what though? I knew that I was not going to be able to be perfect all week because I am human. I set myself self-care goals that were not I am going to do this or that everyday this week. The goals were more like by the end of January I will complete this self-care task 5 out of 7 days a week. Sometimes self-care also looks like self-compassion. You would not expect anyone to have perfection on trying to add a new habit, so why would you have that same expectation for yourself. Here we are entering into the second week of the new year, and last week was rough (in many ways). This is a new week. A fresh start. One thing I am going to do is add a tracker this week to my planner for the specific more so daily type self-care tasks I am trying to add (with the expectation that it does not need to be completed everyday) in order to see if that helps me with developing the habits.

One big thing is as we begin to add goals, lets make sure that they are goals that are SMART. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. I think in the midst of the SMART goal the area the one that needs some focus is realistic. Don't set goals for yourself that you know there is no way you will achieve them. Take the bigger goal and make a smaller short term goal. Then another and then another. If I have learned anything from 2020 it is that things change quickly and we sometimes have goals that involve things we have no control over (see more over on my fitness specific blog https://fitnessgalnovice.com/2020/12/30/fitness-success-in-2021/). So set SMART goals.

What are the self-care goals you have set this year? How are you doing with achieving them? Lets's chat!
